Project Musketeer was initiated by Flaxar as an outreach project involving Cliftonville Community Centre and Newington Residents Association. The aim of the project was to present challenges to young people as a way of realising their dreams, and as an alternative to ‘anti-social behaviour' by demonstration that ‘social' forms of behaviour can also raise adrenaline.

Two groups of young people joined the project to create vehicles made from junk, sourced in local alleys and recycling centres. Workshops were held at Flaxart studios, with the lead artist Paddy Bloomer to the enginer, design and construct two guiders.

Race . The two guiders Flying Alex and C.C.C raced at Beehives Formula One Guider race part of the West Belfast Festival, August 2006. Up against big competition, neither of our guiders took any of the race prizes, though C.C.C won the best turn out prize of £50! We hope they might have better luck when they participate in the coming Derby Soapbox race as part of the Hillsborough Oyster Festival, September 2006.
