This course will focus on Plaster of Paris and its advantages as a material for creating sculpture, and for making moulds.
During the course of the weekend you will learn about the properties and applications of plaster. You will have the chance to make a variety of different types of moulds to suit different projects, and will use these moulds to create a cast object by the end of the course.
This course is suitable for beginner and intermediary levels, with more experienced participants having the option to attempt more challenging multi-part moulds.
John Rainey is an artist based in Belfast. In 2009 he received his BA from Manchester Metropolitan University and then received his MA in 2012 from the Royal College of Art in London. He has exhibited widely and was the recipient of numerous awards including the British School at Rome Fellowship in 2018.
