This course shows you how to use the woodshop equipment at Flax Art Studios to make your own canvas stretcher frames (frame are made with fixed joints).

Aims

To familiarise Flax Workshop members with safe use of the machinery and techniques so artists can then utilise the workshop to create their own stretchers, helping reduce future production costs and allowing bespoke sizes.

What we cover

During this session, you will make your own stretcher frame using the panel saw, mitre saw and drill.

Materials provided.

This course includes an additional woodshop session allowing you to come back and use the equipment.

The course is led by art technician Chris Campbell-Palmer who has a degree in Sculpture from Camberwell College of Arts and many years’ experience working with leading artists as a sculpture fabricator, gallery technician and film set mould maker.
