In Dec 2002 , Flax Art facilitated a research visit by curator Nevenka Sivavec of Likovni Salon, Celjje, Slovenia. Sivavec visited Belfast to familarise herself with the work of Belfast based practitioners and organisations with a view to presenting a show which platformed work from Belfast based artists to a Slovene audience.The result was a show called ‘BEL+AST', which opened on 21 st May 2004in Likovni Salon, Celje. The Arts Council of Northern Ireland funded this exhibition.

This exhibition brought together artists and organisations from Belfast to exhibit, perform, show films and give presentations relating to contemporary Belfast. Artists involved in BE+FAST included: Aisling O'Beirn, Ursula Burke, Seamus Harahan, John Duncan, Sandra Johnston and Eoghan McTigue. Marjetica Potrc and Franc Purg (two Slovene artists who were previous Flax Art residents) also took part in the exhibition.
